Focus for Improvement
• Our goal is to improve all students’ academic levels in English/language arts, reading, and math for all grade levels.

• English Learners as well as students ranging from Far Below Basic to Gifted will continue to participate in special programs designed for enrichment and acquisition of knowledge.

• We also seek to increase number of students scoring Proficient on the California Standards Test (CST), as well as to improve students’ academic levels English/language arts, reading, and math for all grade levels. We also hope to sharpen students’ writing skills, and improve the rating on the ILAP test for fourth and fifth graders.

• English Learners and Gifted/GATE students will participate in special activities, events, and programs designed for enrichment and acquisition of knowledge, including the computer lab. Student Council, Gifted Students, and Peer Mediators will serve as Peer Mentors.

• Students will participate in new academic clubs such as the Writing Club, Speech Club, Math Club, Reading Club, and Boys Club to enhance their skills. Students Committees (Student Council and Peer Mediators) will help, mentor, and represent peers in activities like morning assemblies, parades, clubs, and more.

• At-risk students will participate frequently in intervention programs in the reading lab, the computer lab, and afterschool programs. Growth will be measured by schoolwide assessments, district benchmark assessments, and state tests.

• We also aim to continue and align Staff Professional Development with our students’ academic needs.
