  • Mr. Gary McHenry has worked in urban education for over thirty (30) years.  He has served as a Counselor, Vice Principal, Principal, area Superintendent and fifteen (15) years as a Superintendent.

    In 2009, Mr. McHenry was appointed as Superintendent for the Inglewood Unified School District, which is located adjacent to the Los Angeles International Airport and serves an inner city minority student population of 14,000.

    In 1999, Mr. McHenry was appointed Superintendent for the 35,000 student Mt. Diablo Unified School District in Northern California. The District has some of the wealthiest areas in Contra Costa County and some of the poorest areas.  After serving ten (10) years in Mt. Diablo, he resigned in 2009.

    From 1994-1999, Mr. McHenry served as the Superintendent for the Stockton Unified School District, a majority Hispanic District of 37,000 students.  From 1990-1994, Mr. McHenry was an area Superintendent for the Oakland Unified School District.

    Mr. McHenry began his educational career with the Mountain View Unified School District.  Between 1985 and 1990, he was Principal at Los Altos High School.  From 1978 to 1985, he was Vice Principal at Mountain View High School.  He also worked as the Dean of Students and a Counselor at Mountain View High School.

    Gary McHenry received a Masters Degree from Stanford University and earned a Bachelor Degree from the University of California, San Diego.
