I enrollmy student in
school?
Enroll your child at the school your child will attend. Proof of legal age is required for children entering kindergarten (or first grade if the child is not attending kindergarten). You will need a verification of residency and your child’s immunization record. do I apply for my child to attend a school
other than my home school?
Open enrollment is available to students whose parents or guardians currently reside within the Inglewood Unified School District attendance areas and to students who have otherwise established residence pursuant to provisions of Education Code 48204 or 48209. This policy allows parents to select the District school they wish their child to attend regardless of their school of residency. Requests for admission are based on a random, unbiased selection process. Additional information and applications are available at each school office or at the Child Welfare & Attendance (C.W.A.) office, located on the second floor of the school district main office at 401 S. do I enroll my child in an
Inglewood school?
If you do not live in Inglewood or Ladera Heights and you would like your child to attend an Inglewood school, you will need to obtain a release permit from your current school district. Permits to attend schools in the Inglewood Unified School District are processed according to available space. For more information, please contact the school district switchboard and asked to be connected to the Child Welfare & Attendance office (C.W.A.). The office is located on the second floor of the school district main office at 401 S. Inglewood Avenue, Inglewood, CA 90301.

offer child care before
and/or after school?
Several schools offer child care before and/or after school for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Programs operate year round at participating schools, with the exception of major holidays. Daily activities may include homework assistance, educational enrichment, sports, crafts, quiet games, playground time, and field trips. Please contact your school to find out about programs offered and eligibility requirements.
To top of page - What is the difference between the year-round calendar
and the traditional calendar?
The year-round calendar has 175 instructional days and the traditional calendar has 180 instructional days. The year-round school year begins in July and non-school days are distributed throughout the year. Generally, the year-round calendar follows a schedule of 60 days of school followed by 20 days of vacation. Specific dates are available at each school and at the school district office. The traditional calendar begins in September and continues through June with a summer vacation period.

Special Discount Fares - Students
Full time Inglewood elementary, middle school, and high school students (as residents of L.A. County) are eligible to purchase a student pass. College and vocational school students may be eligible for monthly passes if they are enrolled in an accredited school of learning within Los Angeles County for a minimum of 12 units or 12 hours of classroom study for at least 3 months.All students, elementary to college-age, must first obtain an application (177KB PDF, Adobe® Acrobat plugin required) from their schools or online, fill it out and mail it (college/vocational students - take it in person) to a Metro Customer Center for processing. There is a $1 fee and you must supply a photo of yourself. A photo ID will be made and mailed to you. After you receive it in the mail, buy a $20 or $30 stamp, depending on your school level, good for that month's unlimited travel on the bus or train. Every month you will need to buy a new stamp from a Metro Customer Center or outlet that sell stamps, tokens and monthly passes.

Does the school district provide preschool classes?Various preschool programs are offered at the Inglewood Unified School District's Child Development Center for families who meet eligibility requirements. The Child Development Center (CDC) is located at 10409 10th Avenue, Inglewood CA 90302 and can be reached at 310-419-2691. The Head Start preschool program is also located on the CDC campus and can be reached at 310-419-2605. For other Head Start programs throughout Inglewood and Los Angeles, call the Training and Research Foundation office at 310-412-4195.
